This makes efficiencies in equipment, staff and patient satisfaction – a one-stop shop. This space was designed in “pods” so that each Orthopedic Surgeon almost has their own office with their own nurse, exam rooms and access to centralized ancillary areas, such as X-Ray, Cast Rooms and a Business Office and their ancillary functions. With this suite being so large as to accommodate 17 doctors and still make the space efficient they have their own X-Ray Area with four exam rooms. X-Rays are notorious for slowing down offices and these doctors wanted this space to work as efficiently as possible, that is why they selected four X-Ray rooms. There is also a Physical Therapy Area within this suite to accommodate their patients. These doctors also utilize Cast Rooms so that exam rooms are not used for this function, also another area that can slow down the turnover of exam rooms." Operating Room Renovation in Cassville Hospital "Sisters of Mercy purchased South Barry County Hospital and decided to bring their Operating Room up to Joint Commissions Standards – the facility had never been through a survey with the Joint Commission. The new space has a high-tech Operating Room, four pre/post Operatory spaces, nurse station, changing rooms for doctors and staff, Sub-sterile space, an Anesthesia workroom and other ancillary spaces to make it pass with flying colors when the State Health Department and JCAHO came to do their inspections." Cherrystone Building - Central Registration Suite "St. John's went to a Central Registration format, meaning that all patients whether In-Patient or Out-Patient call a Central Registration office where all personal information is confirmed. This space has 28 cubicles, three offices a lounge and workroom." Ambulatory Surgery Center - MRI Suite "This Imaging Suite is located inside a large Out-patient facility and is used by many of the offices in the building. This imaging suite has an MRI (magnetic resonance image) is a radiology technique that uses magnetism, radio waves, and a computer to produce images of body structures. The MRI scanner is a tube surrounded by a giant circular magnet. The patient is placed on a moveable bed which is inserted into the magnet. The magnet creates a strong magnetic field which aligns the protons of hydrogen atoms, which are then exposed to a beam of radio waves. This spins the various protons of the body, and they produce a faint signal that is detected by the receiver portion of the MRI scanner. The receiver information is processed by a computer, and an image is then produced. The image and resolution produced by MRI is quite detailed and can detect tiny changes of structures within the body. For some procedures, contrast agents such as gadolinium are used to increase the accuracy of the images. This space has one MRI installed now and a space for a future machine at a later date. This space also accommodates two Holding Cubicles, nurse station, waiting room, Business Office and other ancillary spaces. The control room is an oversized room what can be shared with the future control room as well." Southwest Builders Office Renovation "Southwest Builder's approached Ireland and Associates to turn a house into their office and spaces for a couple other tenant. The zoning change was approved, then we had to have the structure analyzed and some alterations made to prove the building met the Commercial requirements for a building. One of the hurdles with this type of project is usually the requirements for handicapped accessibility. We had to design a ramp to accommodate wheelchairs into the main entrance." Ozark Magnetic Imaging - MRI Suite "St. John's and Cox have combined their forces to share an MRI Imaging Suite. An MRI (magnetic resonance image) is a radiology technique that uses magnetism, radio waves, and a computer to produce images of body structures. We added onto the existing building to accommodate another MRI to help with the patient load for these facilities. We infilled an existing drive-thru area for a new MRI and the vestibule area for the new control room. We matched the existing building façade to keep the addition from looking like an addition. The existing facility was still operating during our construction time. A nurse station, changing areas and a prep area were added to help facilitate the new MRI room." Empire Bank Building "A contractor, Kerry Snow, contacted Ireland and Associates to help return a suite to it's original condition, as per the contract with Dr. McClain to Empire Bank when Dr. McClain left this facility. We just made sure the facility met all the codes and ordinances and returned it back to the way it was before Dr. McClain occupied the suite." Strafford Clinic Addition "This existing clinic had grown to need an addition, as well as the doctor wanted to bring on two more physicians in the facility that it would not accommodate at this time. The addition more than double the existing facility centralized the waiting room and business office and really gave the building two “spines” of practices. They were separated yet the staff could get from one “spine” to the other without traveling through the waiting room and being seen by the public. Their facility was operating during the construction and because the phasing was thought out, it went very well." St. Roberts Home Medical Supply Renovation "In the same building that we had designed a pharmacy, there was still room to house a retail Home Medical Supply. The space we were given to use for this purpose used to be a mechanic's garage so a very big transformation took place. The good items it had that we used were the large overhead doors in the back of the facility for delivery of the supplies, but other than that a lot of the building had to be “finished out”. There was not cooling and only infa-red heaters were in the car bays, the floor was unlevel and there were still hydraulic car lifts in the building. Half of the new facility was used for storage and the other half for retail space. Obviously it was very important for a store selling wheelchairs to be wheelchair accessible, so very close attention was paid to this as well as an oversized entry door to accommodate over-sized wheelchairs." Smith-Glynn-Callaway Podiatry Suite "The goal in this suite was to reuse as much of the existing facility as possible to accommodate a new Podiatry Suite. The suite had been used as an Orthopedic Surgeon's suite so it had a couple of large procedure rooms, which we left one a procedure room, but had to add some equipment to accommodate the Podiatrists the other procedure room was utilized as a Medical Record room. The space accommodates four physicians, 15 Exam Room, an X-Ray space and other ancillary spaces." Smith-Glynn-Callaway Occupational Medicine/Physical Therapy Suite "The owner wanted to try to use as much of the existing walls as possible for this suite. The suite had been used as a Podiatry Area and now houses one physician, six exam rooms and ancillary spaces. Their space had to be pretty versatile to be used for all of the spaces needed for Occupational Medicine." Smith-Glynn-Callaway Medical Research Department "This type of facility did not exist prior to this project, but the physical space was used for a Family Medicine Clinic. This new department helps with medical trials with medication, this is how new drugs are developed, tested and determined if they are doing what they are designed to do. They needed a small lab to run some basic tests within their facility, a couple exam rooms and some other ancillary spaces." Mobile MRI "Before St. John's wanted to bring the newest technology to their patients, yet didn’t have the room for an MRI inside their existing hospital, so they instead made it possible for them to use a Mobile MRI that could also be used at other Sister’s of Mercy facilities. An MRI (magnetic resonance image) is a radiology technique that uses magnetism, radio waves, and a computer to produce images of body structures. Patients traveled to the Mobile MRI via a covered canvas walkway that helped protect them from the elements." Fire Command Center- 2006 "As a result of the additions onto St. John's facility, a Fire Command Center was required so that the fire department would have a home-base in case of a large fire. This facility houses the controls to several components of the hospital to help aid in an emergency situation. The challenge on this project was to marry the older generation of controls with the newer control systems." Pharmacy- Campus "This is a brand new building which houses a full service pharmacy which includes two drive-thru lanes, front door parking and retail over the counter sales area and drop-off and pick-up windows to serve customers efficiently. The exterior of the building ties into the rest of the campus décor and interior of the building received custom designed finishes and millwork through out. This project will allow greater efficiency and ease for the patient to get their prescription on St. John's Campus." Trinity Lutheran Church This project features newly renovated restrooms in the Education Center and the Multi-Purpose Rooms. This remodel was needed to bring everything up to code allowing the handicap to be able to use these restrooms without having to go to another building. OTC Early Childhood Education Center "This new facility will house 80 children for a daycare on an upper level with classrooms in the lower level. This 13,500 square foot building will allow Ozarks Technical Community College the ability to expand its daycare services to the community as well as to its students. Fourteen Architectural Firms submitted information about their firms, four firms were asked to present information about their firm to a committee, out of that process Ireland and Associates was unanimously selected as the Architectural firm of their choice. Ireland and Associates was involved in the process of having the property re-zoned and was a part of the Community Informational meeting and worked with Councilman Wayne." Rolla Cancer NA Rolla Pharmacy Remodel This suite features a full service pharmacy which includes walk-in service as well as a drive thru. It was important to have a good work flow in the space due to the pharmacy having to serve both the drive-up and walk-in windows. A retail sales area was provided for customer convenience for over the counter sales. The pharmacy area featured custom millwork and pharmacy fixtures to fit their needs. Rolla Nuclear Camera "This suite houses a nuclear camera, console work area for the camera technician and adjoining hot lab, toilet and additional work area. The Hot lab features custom millwork to accommodate the hot labs special needs. The suite received new finishes through out. This suite was very tight for the Nuclear Camera, but this is only a temporary home until they are moved into their permanent location." St. Robert City Project- Master Plan The City of St. Robert asked us to help them with receiving a grant to develop a median space between a divided highway for a Highway 65 Museum and a “Gateway to Ft. Leonard Wood” by producing a three-dimensional idea of the project. Whiteside Vertical Expansion "This project entails adding two additional floors to this existing three story Whiteside doctor's clinic building. There will be a new main entrance design on the west side of the building to provide access to the building from the main campus area. The original building was designed to have three additional floors added but at this time we are only adding two. The main focus on this project first is the shell for the two floors, once the shell is completed we will be doing layouts for the additional 66,000 square feet that will be used for doctor's clinics within the St. Johns system." Bank of Crocker- St. Robert's "This project features a new addition onto the second floor to accommodate for new customer growth and satisfaction. This new addition added two new offices, a new mechanical room, a new storage, and a new file room." MACC Pharmacy "This clinic relocation/renovation was due to the current linking addition between the MACC and Whiteside building. The Pharmacy features 4 new custom built work stations for Pharmacist, a new office, a new prep area, and a new clean room that was provided by Travis Cleanair. Home Infusion features 6 new work areas with custom built millwork, a new office, and a new prep area. These two departments co-inside with each other and are both operate more efficiently now with the new renovated space." Burn Unit - Inpatient & Outpatient NA Crighton Olive Dunn- General Surgeons "This project features the design of a 7,700 square feet surgical suite including six doctor's offices, 5 exam rooms, 2 complete business offices, an individualized ultrasound area and a combination of waiting areas seating nearly 45 patients. The space features exemplary efficient use of space and exceptional mobility through-out including a sliding pocket door between procedure rooms. Crucial to the design was remodeling two originally separate suites to create one cohesive unit for doctors Crighton, Olive and Dunn. The integration of new millwork and interior design finishes with existing ones proved to be a challenging, yet manageable task." Stryker Orthodontics "This is a brand new two story office building that houses an orthodontic office on the upper level and office space on the lower level. The exterior of the building includes cut stone and EIFS finishes. The orthodontics office features an arcade area for the younger patients and a sibling play area a custom designed reception area as you enter the building. Custom designed finishes, custom built millwork, high ceilings and modern equipment make this a joy for patients." Lisa Middlebrooks "This 1,300 square foot suite is home to an accountant and her support staff. This suite has 3 offices, conference room, lounge and other support spaces. This suite is the first to be built in this building." Maternal Fetal Medicine - Revised "This clinic remodel/expansion included new Doctor and staff offices, a new lounge, and a new file/storage area. The business office received new custom millwork to serve the staff and patients more efficiently. The existing waiting room received new custom finishes." Green Leaf "This marketing company asked us to render several houses to help their company sell the new houses. The renderings help the potential buyer to visualize the house before it is built. We rendered several versions of houses with different materials and color schemes to show the options available. These renderings were completed by hand, not computer generated." Smith-Glynn-Callaway Urgent Care "This suite features 9 exam rooms, 2 procedure rooms, and an IV Prep area that surrounds the nurses work station for better work flow and mobility between the rooms. The business office features custom built millwork that personalizes the visit with the patient. The waiting room seats 41 people with new custom designed finishes." American Family "Charles Chalender contacted Ireland and Associates to design his space for lease as a flexible office space that several types of businesses could occupy. His space was ____ square feet and has 2 enclosed offices and open office area, a reception area, lounge and conference room. By finishing this space Charles was able to lease this space faster." Tagging 2005 "The client asked us to inventory their existing buildings and either update their existing floor plans and/or measure and draw in AutoCad their building's floor plan, to investigate what departments are using spaces and to come up with a way to communicate the square footage, department using the space, create a building identifier, create a numbers system that can be easily modified with floor plan changes and square footage of each room." Regional Medical Supply "This retail suite features a showcase area as you enter the front door for display of the latest home medical supplies. Custom millwork was built in to serve the business office efficiently. The suite has multiple sales offices, work cubicles, break room and storage rooms which feature custom designed finishes. This retail space allows for patients to get the supplies they need while they are tended to at home." OR Waiting "St. John's wanted to make their Operating Room Waiting area friendlier, more private and availability to a private conversation with the doctor once they completed their surgery. Originally this area was one large space had very poor acoustics and no privacy. Most commonly when someone has a surgery, many family members will come to wait for them to return, families need a space to discuss family manners with some privacy while waiting. We separate the space into “family rooms” which each had a phone, TV, which could be operated from each family room so if a family did not want the TV on, they had the ability to turn it off. There were two consult rooms designed so that there could even be more privacy while hearing the results of the surgery from the doctor. Acoustical sound panels, carpet and many soffits were used to help acoustics in this area." St. Johns Hospital Statement of Conditions 2005 "The Sisters of Mercy Health System asked us to prepare their Statement of Conditions for this facility, a document required by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of HealthCare Organizations (JCAHO) for surveying the building. This document must show fire walls, fire compartments, chases, areas which must be enclosed with fire walls, suites, ratings of doors within fire walls and other items that are within the Life Safety Code. We helped educate the staff, put on a seminar, helped the facility prepare, physically checked fire walls and doors, wrote their Plan for Improvements (PFI) and attended the survey with the Joint Commission. With our help, this facility scored very well." The Kitchen Clinic "St. John's approached Ireland and Associates telling them of a need by The Kitchen Clinic of renovating their clinic. We, along with Packard Engineering, Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins volunteer to design and complete drawings so The Kitchen could remodel their existing Clinic space. The existing space was very inefficient, unorganized and needed upgrading badly. We designed it as per the newest clinic standards including efficiencies that will help The Kitchen Clinic the ability to see more patients in the same amount of time. We are very pleased to be working with The Kitchen Clinic – this community is very important to us that are one of the reason we volunteer our expertise to this cause." Ambulance Offices and Training Facility NA Cardiovascular Ancillary Services - National Avenue Medical Bldg "This facility has two “sides”, one side is for diagnosis, which includes exam room and support services, the other side has Stress/Echo, X-Ray, EECP and Echo areas. EECP (Enhanced External Counterpulsation) helps the patient receive more oxygen to their heart – a new technology that is in great demand. They also have a nuclear camera to help with further diagnosis of their patients. All of these spaces have specific needs and were designed specifically for these uses. This space also has a central check-in area and separated waiting spaces so that walking is minimized by the patients." SGC File Area "This suite was renovated to accommodate for the fewer number of files that this area occupies, due to the new computer filing system. This suite features two offices with custom finishes, a work area with cubicles, and two filing areas. By shrinking the space for the file area gave the building more usable space for other departments." Smith-Glynn-Callaway Blood Drawing Area "This suite was completely remodeled to work more efficiently with the rapid growth in demand. This suite features 5 blood drawing/toilet rooms, 3 toilet rooms, 2 bed drawing rooms, and 5 blood drawing rooms. This suite also features a new business office/work area that works more efficiently with the lab that was relocated in the basement through a new Pneumatic tube system." Steak N Ale Addition "This 1,486 square foot addition allowed more dining space for Steak N Ale. They also added an additional Salad Bar to accommodate their patrons. This addition was designed similarly to the existing design so that it is not an obvious change to the building. It allowed the “brand” of Steak N Ale to be contiguous." Whiteside Medical Building - Cancer/Hematology Suite "This addition/renovation project will expand the Cancer services for this facility. This new plan will allows 27 Chemotherapy chairs, 20 exam rooms, 8 physicians and other ancillary services. The Chemotherapy patients will be able to look outside to help keep their minds off of their therapy." SGC Lab Move To Basement "This profession is continually growing with updated information and equipment. This department had to under go a rapid update of size and equipment to accommodate for a huge jump in customer growth and demand. This department's new suite features custom built millwork that incorporates their equipment into the space that creates a better and faster work flow. This new suites also features a new lounge, locker area, and storage. This area better accommodates for their needs today and for the future." HealthPlans Building - Office Suite "This project was to accommodate four different departments and their growth. There were many built-in cubicles and offices in each separate department. Security was also an issue since these departments do not work directly with any patients, but more with paperwork and phones. Sound control was important because of the many cubicles, yet we didn't want it to look or feel like a “sea of cubicles”. Each department had several types of cubicles that were specialized to their area. This was determined by spending a lot of time with each department to understand how they work and what their needs were." Hammons Heart Institute - Womens Heart Center "This job was inspired by the rising heart disease in women and the lack of information and exposure to women about the disease. This is a space in which forums, support groups, informational dialogues and research can be done about the disease and it's effect on women. There is a “living room” presence to this project so that women can be comfortable discussing the issue. This was the first Center in the area dedicated to Women's Heart Health. The is backlit lighting around the curved ceiling feature, a large screen TV inside custom built millwork and a bar-like area to have coffee while looking up information on the internet." Center for Vascular Excellence Waiting Room and Reception area Medical Staff Services - Office Renovation "This area in the main hospital on the second floor was designed to be occupied by the Medical Staff Services of St. Johns, which is a department that does Physician & Executive recruiting for the hospital. The area was designed for each of the Associates to have their own work cubicle that allows them privacy and plenty of millwork to store all their files. There were also Administrative Offices, a large conference room, and a large file room included in this project. The interior finishes of the space are a welcoming blend of colors to welcome their clientele and make them feel comfortable." Nuclear Medicine Renovation "This renovation for the Nuclear Medicine department will allow them to expand their services by having a larger, nicer waiting room, add a Dexa Scanner room and other support spaces. This renovation will also help them meet some of the JCAHO requirements that were not met in the past." Rolla Pediatrics "This suite featured a fish tank in the waiting room to help keep the little ones occupied. There was a new reception area added with custom millwork. Several new exam rooms were added to handle the patient load and the entire space received new finishes through out. This project was also challenging because they continued to see patients during the construction, but because of the coordination, everything went very well." Smith-Glynn-Callaway Lab Remodel Clinic Lab Renovation Ambulatory Surgery Center Statement of Conditions 2005 For JCAHO Complimentary Health Services Exam Rooms and support services Smith-Glynn-Callaway Urgent Care Suite Doctors office Suite Irelands Office Building Architects Office Branson West Ambulance Facility - Helipad Addition "This project in Branson West was to allow a helicopter to land and take-off from this facility to get injured people to where they needed to go faster. We worked with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and had no problem getting approved everything we needed and in a timely manner. This is not the first time we had worked with the FAA therefore, they knew us and we understood what they were looking for. Since there was going to be a helicopter landing at this facility, it meant the crew was also enlarging and space was needed for the new pilots. We designed a space for the pilots to stay day and night to accommodate the growing need in the area." Breech Hospital Statement of Conditions 2005 For JCAHO Whiteside Gastrointestinal Statement of Conditions 2005 For JCAHO Marian Center Statement on Conditions 2005 For JCAHO Branson Medical Clinic "This clinic remodel included a new waiting room, new business office, staff offices and several new exam rooms. The business office featured custom millwork to serve the staff and patients efficiently. The existing exam rooms and remaining space received new custom designed finishes through out. This project also allowed an additional Doctor and her exam rooms to be accommodated to help increase patient load and patient satisfaction." Zabek & Blair - Oral Surgeons "Dr's Zabek & Blair had outgrown their space and was also adding an additional Oral Surgeon, therefore it was time to move their practice to a larger facility. Their new facility four Oral Surgeons, 15 Operatories, a Dental Lab, five Recovery Areas, Nurse Stations, Business Office, X-Ray and other ancillary spaces. They also had a centralized Medical Gas System with Nitrous Oxide, Oxygen and Medical Air, this system had to be coordinated with all other disciplines on the job to make sure everything ran smoothly." Fremont Medical Building - General Surgery Suite This facility is home for 7 doctors and their support staff and ancillary functions. They have 4 procedure rooms and 12 exam rooms which help facilitate the care of their patients – both pre and post op. Meeting Rooms Meeting Rooms Mercy Villa Statement of Conditions 2005 For JCAHO Fire Equipment Room Equipment Room for hospital fire equipment Sports Medicine Addition and Renovation "This facility enables St. John's to have the newest Sports Medicine and Rehab facility in the region. They will have the only Swim-ex in the area – this technology provides acquatic therapy for patients. This facility also has a Functional Area where athletes can hit golf balls, throw baseballs and footballs, etc. and the staff can study the movements and help with rehabilitation. St. John's is a Partner of the Springfield Cardinals and is the official Sports Rehabilitation sponsor. They also work with Missouri State University involving athletic rehabilitation services and training." Rolla Clinic - Lab Renovation "This suite was completely remodeled and the new space featured a new waiting room, lab area and offices. The lab area has custom designed millwork to serve the lab staff efficiently in their work. The custom millwork was built around new high-tech equipment which makes the lab staff work more efficiently, therefore the patient getting faster results." Neonatal Intensive Care Suite "This area on the fifth floor of the hospital was renovated to add more area and update the existing NeoNatal Intensive Care Unit. This is a critical care area within the hospital that specializes in the care of premature newborns and newborns/babies with special critical needs. We enlarged their area from 5,200 sf to 6,000 sf. and remodeled 1,800 sf to make the existing space meet their growing needs. We added a new scrub sink area, four Semi-Private Patient Rooms with break-away doors, three Semi-Private Breast Feeding Rooms for nursing mothers, a social services office, a large and more efficient Clean Utility and Storage rooms, a Dirty Utility Room and a combination Work Room and Conference Room. The challenge with this project was to keep the existing NICU in operation, deal with infection control and not be too disruptive to the critically ill infants within the suite." Rolla Clinic - MRI Suite "This suite was completely remodeled to house an MRI machine, control room and equipment room. Special shielded walls, floor and ceiling was required for the MRI machine. The suite received custom designed finishes This project was very challenging because the tall ceilings and space above the ceilings were very difficult to maintain – very, very careful coordination had to take place to make all of this happen. For the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Camera to be brought into the building, the aluminum storefront entrance had to be removed and returned to its place as well as the exterior canopy because the canopy was also too low to accommodate the camera. The good things about this was that the Owner was notified as soon as we had done our field research and realized this would be a problem. Since we were able to inform the Owner at such an early time, were able to coordinate with all fields and price this work into the project." Hand Therapy Suite "This suite has a small gym and three therapy stations. It features a curved receptionist area with soft lighting in the waiting room. The gym has windows and with it being on the fifth floor of the building, the view is beautiful." Neurosurgeon Suite "This infill was to accommodate new a neurosurgeon clinic space for the doctors to be able to see their patients for pre- and post- surgery consultation. The space accommodated 4 doctors, 6 exams and other ancillary spaces. A new Neurosurgeon was coming to St. John's and needed a place to see his patients." Lebanon Cardiac Rehab Suite "Cardiac Rehab in Lebanon had grown out of its space, but yet was landlocked; therefore they were moved to an out-building where they could grow. Their new space allowed for more open rehab space for weight lifting equipment and general rehabilitation space. This space also accommodated their exam rooms and other ancillary spaces." Regional Ear Nose & Throat Operating Room Suite This suite meets all of the requirements from the State Health Department and the Joint Commission for an Operating Room. This Operating Room is used mostly for pediatric patients so special accommodate was made to separate the Pre-Op area from the Post-Op area – so noise wouldn't be a problem transferring. The flow is such that a patient exits through a door closest to the Post-Op Area and does not go back through the Pre-Op area. Lebanon Orthopedic/Physical Therapy Suite Doctors office Suite HealthPlans Building - Managed Care Offices Office Sute Lebanon Internal Medicine/Pediatric Suite "This very large suite in Lebanon houses a little different combination of the types of doctors – both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics were accommodated in this suite. We, therefore, really tried to separate the two areas of medicine because their clientele was so different. On the façade they were two different suites with a combined check-in area, with the pediatric exam rooms being on one side of the building and Internal Medicine exam rooms and ancillary spaces situated on the opposite side. Although for efficiency, the two areas shared all business office functions and the lounge, although if space was needed for additional exam rooms for one side – they could be shared." Branson 248 - Internal Medicine Clinic & Urgent Care Clinic "In Branson St. John's was able to accommodate an Urgent Care suite, with all the trimmings of X-ray and Lab. There were also several exam rooms and ancillary spaces to support their functions. In the same space and Internal Medicine doctor also had their practice there, which could share any of the ancillary space necessary." Play It Again Sports - Renovation "This project was to move a baseball cage area and add a mezzanine to the space to expand the types of athletic equipment for their business. There was already a very high ceiling in the space, so a mezzanine was added inside the building to give them more floor space for golf, racquetball and other equipment they sell to the public. While under construction, the space was still used for retail." Hospital Pain Center "A space came available inside the hospital where a Same-Day Surgery suite had been, therefore the Pain Management department was a perfect fit for most of the existing suite. The Operating Rooms were used for Procedure Rooms with C-Arm technology. The nurse stations had to be reconfigured to accommodate the Pain Management type of work, but the Pre- and Post- Operatory spaces were used for Holding cubicles for Pain Management. A face lift was given to the entire suite, which helped update their aesthetics. This was a good use of space for not a lot of money." PT Scan Suite "An independent company moved into town to offer PET Scan technology, which is a diagnostic examination that involves the acquisition of physiologic images based on the detection of radiation from the emission of positrons. Positrons are tiny particles emitted from a radioactive substance administered to the patient. The subsequent images of the human body developed with this technique are used to evaluate a variety of diseases. This space housed only the ancillary space necessary for this technology, which included a Hot Lab, an Incubation Area, Waiting Room, Offices and a Control Room. The space was very efficiently laid out, therefore only 1,400 square feet was necessary." Regional Ear Nose & Throat Clinic "This suite features 4 hearing booths, creatively designed millwork in the exam rooms to make it easier for the doctor to do their job, and direct access to the Operating Room next door. There are several rooms with Interior Design finishes to accommodate some of their young clientele. There is a play area and a fish tank in the waiting room to help keep the little ones busy. This space features arched windows which is tied into the design of the suite. It was important to have good patient flow because the suite is quite large." Branson 248 Cancer Clinic "St. John's wanted to have a place their patients in Branson could get their chemotherapy treatment without drive to Springfield, therefore a couple days a week the doctors from Springfield accommodate their patients by traveling to Branson. In this Branson facility the patients get the same quality care as in Springfield, they just don't have to drive as far. This space accommodates 9 patients getting Chemotherapy and yet they still have four exam rooms to accommodate other medical interaction." Renner Supply Warehouse Fremont Medical Building - Pharmacy Renovation "This renovation updated several things for this pharmacy; aesthetics, technology and privacy. This pharmacy had not been upgraded since its original incubation of nearly 20 years, it was time. We accommodated the new HIPAA regulations and new technology advances as well as the aesthetics of this pharmacy for a patient-satisfaction result." South Barry County Hospital Statement of Conditions 2002 For JCAHO Marian Center - Statement of Conditions 2002 For JCAHO - Psychiatric Hospital Aurora Community Hospital Statement of Conditions 2002 For JCAHO Mercy Villa - Statement of Conditions 2002 For JCAHO Hammons Heart Institute - Lobby and Public Area Renovation "Hammons Heart Institute was in need of some updating. The lighting level was very low, which made it difficult for its clientele, which were the elderly. The colors also dated the facility. We worked with Interior Planning Consultants to update the look, as well as the patient-friendly aspect of the building. We concentrated our work in the main, public hallways of the building, lifting the lighting level by using different and more lights also adding features and identity to the Main Lobby. Soffits and special lighting were added to enhance the first impression of the building." Emergency Room - CT Scan "Immediately after renovating St. John's Emergency Room, we designed in a space for a new CT Scan machine. CT is fast, patient friendly and has the unique ability to image a combination of soft tissue, bone, and blood vessels. CT is the workhorse imaging system in most busy radiology departments and diagnostic centers. Since its invention some 25 years ago, CT imaging has seen massive advances in technology and clinical performance. Today CT enables the diagnosis of a wider array of illness and injury than ever before! This machine, as per code, needed to be on emergency power so that it is available at all times. We were able to design this into the Entire Concept of the new Triage Area for the Emergency Room." Lebanon Ophthalmology Suite & Optical Shop "This space in Lebanon accommodates one physician and retail Optical Shop to purchase glasses and contacts. Because it is in Lebanon, it offers the patients in that area convenience. There is a large variety of frames available in this space. The custom millwork was designed especially to house frames for viewing and for storing." Lebanon Womens Center "This space in Lebanon accommodates three physicians a procedure room and a bathroom in between each exam room. Since this is a space primarily used for pregnant women, items were designed into the space to accommodate their needs. This space has six exam rooms and a patient education area to help communicate about procedures in both video and face-to-face consultation." St. Roberts Pharmacy Renovation St. John's purchased a building next to their existing clinic in St. Roberts which some of it was used for a drive-thru pharmacy. The location was perfect and the building was able to be modified primarily on the interior to accommodate for this pharmacy. We only needed a portion of the building of this; therefore the rest of the building would be used for other purposes in the future. The drive-thru option made it more patient-friendly and being directly next to the clinic was optimum for the patients. Smith-Glynn-Callaway CT Scan Suite "A Computer Axial Tomography (CT or CaT) Scan suite was added to Smith-Glynn-Callaway Clinic. Other spaces needed for a CaT scan are holding cubicles, dressing areas and places for the staff to work. There are several special considerations which must take place for this type of equipment, but since Ireland and Associates had already done a CT suite, they were aware of the potential problems ahead of time and were able to accommodate them." Cath Lab #5 Renovation "This project involved renovating 1100 sf of an area on the 4th floor of the hospital which was adjacent to the existing Cathetar procedure area within the hospital. To increase their precision of Catheter procedures, we designed a space around the AXIOM Artis dFC Magnetic Navigation. This catheter machine has a revolutionary design which uses magnets to simplify the way doctors steer catheters through the heart and blood vessels, permitting a technique that enables doctors to carry out catheter procedures with greater accuracy and greater confidence. When retrofitting a portion of the old hospital to accommodate new equipment, there is always a challenge dealing with electrical, mechanical, plumbing and other unknown existing conditions." Cath Lab Holding Renovation "This project involved designing three separate areas for multiple users on the fourth floor of the hospital. The first part of the project included a holding area to help with the additional patients that were created by adding the two new Cathetar Labs 5 and 6. The holding area included renovating 1600 square feet for11 holding cubicles complete with medical gases, electrical and nurse call headwalls. Within this area was a centralized nurse station for the nurses to monitor all the patients within the holding area. The second part of the project included a 1200 square foot locker room, dressing area and a lounge with a kitchenette for the staff. The third part of the project included renovating 1200 sf for the Respiratory Therapy department that was partially displaced due to the new lounge/locker area. Their renovation included offices, clean utility, dirty utility, setup area and ventilation areas." Rehab Clinic in St Roberts Building "Cardiac Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation in St. Robert's were once combined into a single space, but once Cardiac outgrew its area, the rehabilitation space also had outgrown its space – so the two departments divided and conquered!! They needed more open rehab space and more exam rooms. It is very important that the staff can see everything going on within the rehab space at one time –so sight lines are very important. The renovation of this new space was able to accommodate their growing needs." Hammons Heart Institute - Heart Rock Deli The Heart Rock Deli allows patients in the building to come by and grab a quick bite to eat after completing their exercise or rehab in the buiding. They feature heart healthy food and beverages to the public. The space is open to the hallway so people-watching can happen while dining. There is special lighting and finishes to tie this space into the building and yet gives it a “restaurant” feel. The name of the deli was selected through a competition and “Heart Rock Deli” won. Consolidated Service Center - Offices Offices and Cubicles for various departments St. Roberts Rehab Renovation Doctors office Suite Emergency Room Renovation "St. John's needed to renovate their Emergency Room to help accommodate the new HIPAA regulations and their need for more space for their patients. Dividers were added between each check-in area to help with the privacy of patients, the space could also accommodate wheelchairs and other disabilities. St. John's was changing their philosophy to having a Triage Area, where patients could be processed faster and get to the staff they needed to be treated by much quicker. Once again, the greatest challenge was the fact that they were seeing patients as we were developing this new concept and under construction. The contractor and staff worked very well together to have the least amount of interruptions." Fremont Medical Building - Internal Medicine Clinic "This suite in the Fremont Medical Building houses a large Internal Medicine suite with its own internal Lab, X-Ray and Blood Drawing area. As a result of this building being long and not very deep, and not wanting the space to feel too large, the waiting room space was divided in half with a central business office. There were two main hallways, once for each “side” of the suite, for patients while the staff has access to an interior hallway." Center for Women Clinic "This large Women's Centered suite is very plush and inviting with its warm, dark wood finishes, arches and columns throughout its suite. There is a centralized Waiting Room, Business Office and File Area which accommodates staff getting to it quite easily from anywhere in the suite. There is also an Ultrasound Area separated from the other Clinic Area because sometimes women just come in for an Ultrasound and leave. There is a lot of support staff for a space like this, such as Medical Secretaries for each doctor as well as nurses. Patient satisfaction is very important for this suite and they have been accommodated quite well." Renovation for Fremont Psychiatry "To Psychiatrists, privacy is very important; therefore we were sure to take every step necessary to ensure a comfort level for them in regard to this issue. The offices are usually quite large because it is where the doctor treats the patient as well as does their documentation after the patient is gone. This suite has five Psychiatrists and a business office to support it. Each of the offices has windows to help with the patient and doctor's viewing pleasure." Renovation for Fremont Accounting "Accounting offices are necessary for business, and we believe it making them as nice as possible for the people who work there. Even though this suite was in the basement of a building, each person has a very nice cubicle or office to help them know they are important to the “big picture” of a business. They had need for storage and centralized printer stations, which we were able to accommodate. They space was also located directly next to an elevator equipment room, which can be quite large, but precautions were taken to help reduce this noise." Renovation for Pools Transmission Shop "The Owner of this building approached us because he had a tenant interested in moving into this space, but at the time it was a go kart track and the tenant wanted it to be a transmission shop. We met with the tenant and talked with the City to ensure everything would go smoothly in the construction process – as it did." Hammons Heart Institute - Board Room Renovation Board Room Renovation Cath Lab #6 Renovation "This project involved renovating 1000 sf of an area on the fourth floor of the hospital which was adjacent to the existing cathetar procedure area within the hospital and the newly added Cathetar Lab #5. To increase their precision of Catheter procedures, we designed a space around the Bicor-Plus (HIP). This catheter machine has a revolutionary design which is used for doctors to steer catheters through the heart and blood vessels, permitting a technique that enables doctors to carry out catheter procedures with greater accuracy and greater confidence. When retrofitting a portion of the old hospital to accommodate new equipment, there is always a challenge dealing with electrical, mechanical, plumbing and other unknown existing conditions." Pathology Lab Renovation in St. Johns Regional Health Ctr "We were asked to renovate St. John's existing Pathology lab, while it was still being used. We designed in 4 new Grossing Stations, a Cutting Area, Slide Staining Area, Slide Storage and an office for a Pathologist. This was quite challenging because the phasing had to be considered quite carefully. If dust were to contaminate any of the work being done it could jeopardize the health of a patient. The staff was great to work with, as well as the General Contractor, DeWitt and Associates, and with everyone's help this project was a success." Corporate View Building - Cardiovascular Suite & Int. Medicine Suites "This Branson suite is an Internal Medicine and a Cardiovascular Rehabilitation space so patients don’t have to travel to Springfield to get this high-quality service. Windows around the building allowed for a beautiful view from everyone in the building and with the Cardiovascular Rehabilitation space being from exterior wall to exterior wall, it was wonderful for patient satisfaction. There is a track and work-out equipment all along the perimeter of the Rehabilitation space. This space also has a Nuclear Camera, which captures the radioactive emissions to produce an image and provide an accurate diagnosis of various conditions such as heart disease, bone abnormalities, cancer and thyroid disorders. This Camera has many special requirements and is quite large. A an exterior window and a portion of a wall had to be removed and replaced to move the Camera into the building, but since Ireland and Associates had coordinated everything with the vendor installing the equipment, everything went very smoothly." Nixa Clinic Addition Clinic Addition Smith-Glynn-Callaway MRI Suite "St. John’s wanted to serve their patients better by providing an MRI in the Smith-Glynn-Callaway clinic. An MRI (or magnetic resonance imaging) scan is a radiology technique that uses magnetism, radio waves, and a computer to produce images of body structures. The challenge with the type of MRI machine selected was that you can’t turn it “off”. When it was moved into the building, we had to make sure that all computers, credit cards, cars – anything that was ferrous metal – was removed from the area where the MRI was passing through eventually to its resting point. Special copper lining had to be installed to keep radio frequencies from intruding into the room, disturbing the reading of the scan. It took great coordination, but everything went well." Little Rascals Daycare - Infill "This day care facility accommodates 48 children and separates the children into the State regulated areas. We worked with the State Health Department to ensure this project went smoothly and was not delayed in its opening. There are several items dictated by the State Health Department on this type of facility, from the types of locks on certain doors, to the type of flooring supplied. We tried to use as much of the existing plumbing as possible to help keep the costs down for the tenant." Waiting Renovation Waiting Room Renovation Rasta Grill - Patio Addition "The owner of this building was trying to get more seating during the warmer months of the year; therefore an outdoor patio was designed. We still had to meet all the requirements with the Health Department, but if you work with them during the designing of the facility, it all goes very well. We were able to get this project completed in time for the warmer weather, and the client was happy – and the food is not bad either!!" Nixa Christian Church Addition "This church addition Ireland and Associates competed against another architectural firm in Springfield and we were selected by the Board to be their architect. This project entailed over 7,000 square feet of several Education rooms, a new drive-under canopy and a new Fellowship Hall and we wanted to make sure the addition, and didn't look like an addition. We removed some of the existing siding and had it pieced onto the side of the building that would be extended so that the addition wouldn't be apparent from the front side. Even if you purchase the same style, brand and color of siding, years later it still looks a little different. We designed in 5 new Education/Sunday School Classrooms, public toilets and office space for their growing congregation. The new drive-under canopy even ties in very nicely into the existing facility. The Board was very happy with their final product." Cains Coffee - New Infill "Cain's Coffee needed a space to repair their coffee machines, house product and have a place for their sales people. This project was an infill in an existing building that needed modifications to meet their needs, such as overhead delivery doors for their trucks to deliver the product. The existing space also was not conditioned, which had to be added." Renovation to the Angiography Suite "We were asked to design an Angiography suite - X-ray angiography is performed to specifically image and diagnose diseases of the blood vessels of the body, including the brain and heart. Traditionally, angiography was used to diagnose pathology of these vessels such as blockage caused by plaque build up. However in recent decades, radiologists, cardiologists and vascular surgeons have used the x-ray angiography procedure to guide minimally invasive surgery of the blood vessels and arteries of the heart. In the last several years, diagnostic vascular images are often made using MR, CT and/or ultrasound and while x-ray angiography is reserved for therapy. We were to expand their number of Angio rooms by one, giving them a total of three procedure rooms. Again, this space was occupied during construction, which is always a challenge, but if good planning and phasing is done, just about anything can be dealt with. There are eight Holding cubicles, an Exam room, a centralized nurse station, a Viewing Room and other ancillary spaces necessary to make this suite efficient. With this project we also designed a file area next to the Angiography Suite to accommodate other needs in the hospital." Chemistry Lab Renovation "St. John's needed an overall renovation and expansion of the existing Chemistry lab, as in all hospitals, during construction the entire space could not be shut down, therefore phasing and working with the staff was very important. This lab consist of a Blood Drawing Area, Special Chemistry, Auto-hematology, Immunology, Auto-Chemistry, Coagulation, Autoclave Room, Urinalysis, Client Services and other ancillary spaces. Directly next door to this expansion were the Infection Control nurses, so we had lots of people continually watching the space to ensure it was as clean as possible at all times. Patients only see a small portion of this area, the Blood Drawing Area, what they don't see is all of the things that must happen behind the scenes to help the doctors diagnose and treat their patients." Kountry Kids Daycare Addition "This was an existing facility in Buffalo that wanted to expand. The expansion was actually an addition onto their existing facility, so we needed to make it look so similar to the existing that it wouldn't look like an addition. The expansion was 1,220 square feet making the entire facility 5,368 square feet. The building was synonymous with the name, it looked like an old-tyme brick Country Store, and so we wanted to keep that concept with the addition. We worked with the State Health Department in meeting all of their regulations with no delay in their opening." Trash Sterilization Building "When the regulations changed and hospitals could no longer have incinerators, St. John's contacted us about doing a Sterilization building. The regulations changed to the hospital having to sterilize the trash before it is taken off-site. We worked with the vendor for this roll-off type unit where the sterilized trash is stored and taken off-site. We had to build a new building to accommodate this new technology close the hospital so that it could be reached easily by their Environmental Service Department. We also had to accommodate the Infectious Trash which now had to be separated and stored until it is removed from the site." Mobile P.E.T Scan "St. John's wanted to accommodate the latest technology of a PET Scan Unit, but didn't have space inside their building for it, so they accommodate a mobile PET Scan Unit. PET Scan is a diagnostic examination that involves the acquisition of physiologic images based on the detection of radiation from the emission of positrons. Positrons are tiny particles emitted from a radioactive substance administered to the patient. The subsequent images of the human body developed with this technique are used to evaluate a variety of diseases. Since it was mobile, it was able to travel to different locations within the Sisters of Mercy System. We did accommodate a canvas covered walkway from the hospital to the Mobile Unit to help protect the patient as much as possible." Endoscopy Renovation Endoscopy Renovation in the hospital American Eagle House Plans American Eagle Neighborhood Center First State Bank "First State Bank in Iberia MO is a new full service bank. The building is a one story structure that consists of brick and EFIS exterior. The new facility has two drive through lanes and an ATM lane. The interior features high ceilings in the lobby and 4 teller stations. The remaining interior consists of offices, conference room, vault and support rooms." Respiratory Therapy "This project features a new lounge for 25 people, 3 dressing rooms, locker area, assignment office, and 3 supervisor offices." Cath Lab Ancillary Space "This newly renovated space includes 3 new doctor viewing areas, 4 new cubicles, 2 new offices, new business office/file room, lounge, and men's and women's locker rooms." Cath Lab #7 & #8 Renovation "This project involved renovating 1,885 sf of an area on the fourth floor of the hospital which was adjacent to the existing catheter procedure areas within the hospital. To increase their precision of Catheter procedures, we designed the spaces around the GE Innova 3100. This catheter machine has a revolutionary design that is built on GE's industry-leading RevolutionTM detector technology which is used for doctors to manipulate catheters through the heart and blood vessels, permitting a technique that enables doctors to carry out catheter procedures with greater accuracy and greater confidence. When retrofitting a portion of the old hospital to accommodate new equipment, there is always a challenge dealing with electrical, mechanical, plumbing and other unknown existing conditions. This project presented the same type of challenges with the added fact that there was a sterile storage space below this area that we had to maintain its sterile conditions." Sodexho Grill 155 and Sunset Strips This project was a facelift to the existing Madison Street Grill. Madison Street Grill was replaced with 155 Degree and Sunset Strips. The facelift included all new finishes and signage. OTC Misc. Projects "Due to the growth in medical programs additional space was needed. This project consisted of a new lab, new administration offices and a new clinic that will serve the public as well as the students in their education."
